Each year we celebrate the "Lighting of the Christmas Tree", which is a fancy way of saying we set our dried-out Christmas tree on fire. Here are some pictures.
2006 Fun and games. Fun and games.
2005 I'm not sure what happened to the pictures, but we definitely burned the 2005 tree.
2004 The tree was a little drier than usual this year so we didn't have to wait till the New Year to set it ablaze. It's always quite a treat to watch it go up, always keeping in mind that it could be our house that's going up with it.
2003 Usually we burn the tree the first week in January, but this year we had to wait a couple weeks until the thing dried out. This is also the first year we've gotten pictures. In years past we'd forget the camera or forget to load it with film. This time, everything fell into place. It was a good, slow burn. Usually it goes up in about 30 seconds. This time it lasted for a good five minutes.
